Surf World surfing and beach culture museumThe Gold Coast has a history rich in surfing and an uncanny ability to produce some of the world’s best surfers; just take a look at the current Top 40 ASP world tour male surfers and you’ll see the names, Joel Parkinson, Josh Kerr, Mick Fanning and Bede Durbridge, all born in or residing on the Gold Coast. Three more of the Top 40, Kieran Perrow, Owen Wright and Adam Melling all hail from just an 1.5hr south in the Byron Bay/Lennox Head shire. And let’s not forget four-time world champ Stephanie ‘Happy’ Gilmore who resides in Tweed Heads.
