Surf World surfing and beach culture museum

The Gold Coast has a history rich in surfing and an uncanny ability to produce some of the world’s best surfers; just take a look at the current Top 40 ASP world tour male surfers and you’ll see the names, Joel Parkinson, Josh Kerr, Mick Fanning and Bede Durbridge, all born in or residing on the Gold Coast. Three more of the Top 40, Kieran Perrow, Owen Wright and Adam Melling all hail from just an 1.5hr south in the Byron Bay/Lennox Head shire. And let’s not forget four-time world champ Stephanie ‘Happy’ Gilmore who resides in Tweed Heads.

When visiting the Gold Coast enjoy a ride through surfing history with a visit to Surf World Museum.

This unique surf museum houses fascinating exhibits and extensive displays of surfing memorabilia including surfboards, artwork, movie posters and historic photos. Whether you are a surfer who wants to discover more about surfing champions and legends or someone who wants to learn about the history of this ancient sport, then Surf World Gold Coast is the place to visit.
