The birth of four baby puggles is being greeted as a major breakthrough in the lengthy battle to breed echidnas in captivity.

Less than 20 had been born in captivity until the four puggles were born at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in the last two months!

Last year Currumbin became home to two new puggles, but this year all five female echidnas have mated, with four having produced puggles so far. They are still waiting for one more.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is just a short commute from San Simeon Absolute Beachfront Apartments – your perfect choice in Southern Gold Coast accommodation.
